INVITATION FOR BID
The Town of Reading, Massachusetts invites bids for:
"GLASS REPLACEMENT AND GLAZING CONTRACT 24-20”
The Town of Reading is accepting Sealed Bids for the Glass Replacement and Glazing Contract No. 24-20. All bids shall be submitted to the Reading Town Clerk’s Office prior to March 14, 2024, at 1:00 p.m.at the address listed above. The envelope must be clearly marked “BID FOR GLASS REPLACEMENT AND GLAZING CONTRACT 24-20.”
Bid documents will be available after 9 AM on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at
https://www.readingma.gov/Bids.aspx
. All plan holders register on the town’s website to access the documents and receive project notifications.
The successful Bidder will be required to provide a Labor and Materials Payment Bond, and Performance Bond. Bonds for 50% of the contract amount must be written with a company qualified to do business in Massachusetts and acceptable to the Awarding Authority. All bidders are required to submit a bid deposit equal to 5% of the value of the total bid.
The minimum wages to be paid for all labor on the project are established in a schedule issued by the Department of Labor and Workforce Development, in accordance with Section 26A - 27D, of Chapter 149 of the M.G.L., as amended, said schedule being made a part of the Contract Documents and is included therein.
Section 6(f) of Chapter 64H of Massachusetts General Laws exempts Massachusetts sales tax on building materials and supplies to be used in the project, and bidders shall not include in their bids any amount therefore.
The contract will be awarded under the provisions of M.G.L. c. 149 to the lowest cost responsible and responsive bidder offering the lowest total price for all three years of the contract.
The Town of Reading reserves the right to reject any and all bids, or to award or not to award the contract for any reason the Town Manager determines to be in the Town's and/or the public's best interest.
