The Town of Reading is seeking proposals from individuals and or firms to provide a redesign of Walkers Brook Drive.

The Town of Reading requested and received funding from the Housing Choice Grant Program to conduct pre-development work for improvements to the Walker’s Brook Drive corridor and at key intersections at General Way, John Street, Village Street, and Lakeview Avenue. This corridor is a primary connection between the Town of Reading, the Town of Wakefield, regional open space assets, and a desired biking, walking, and multi-modal corridor.

Before the award of the Housing Choice grant, the Town of Reading performed a peer review of the Traffic Impact and Access Study (TIAS) related to the Eaton Lakeview Apartments. This review culminated in several recommendations at the intersection of Lakeview Avenue and Walkers Brook Drive. However, the community indicated an interest in a larger scope of analysis and redesign of the Walkers Brook Corridor. Therefore, a Comprehensive Corridor Analysis & Conceptual Redesign occurred in 2019, producing several conceptual improvement alternatives for the Walkers Brook Corridor. This Request for Proposals and associated Scope of Services is meant to further extend the study of these improvement alternatives, conduct public engagement, and advance a preferred alternative towards a preliminary design level.

The Town reserves the right to accept or reject, in whole or in part, any or all proposals, or take whatever other action may be deemed to be in the best interest of the Town in accordance with M.G.L. Chapter 30B.
