The Town of Shrewsbury Engineering Division is seeking written quotes to evaluate ten of the existing sewer pump stations in or close to the current 100-year flood zones. Quotations shall be submitted to the Engineering Department by 11:00 am February 17, 2023, and the work shall be completed by August 1, 2024.
The general scope of work will entail the following items:
1. The consultant would review the existing wastewater pump stations to ensure they can withstand a flood event, limit the damage caused by a flood event, recover from any disruptions in utility service and ensure the equipment's reliability over the station's useful life. The ten pump stations identified represent 25% of the Town’s total wastewater pump stations, which serves portions of the town’s vulnerable populations.
2. For each station, the consultants will review the current flood elevations and anticipated increases in flooding and localized rainfall impact from the latest updated climate change projections. The goal of the evaluation would be to provide specific written recommendations and cost estimates for mitigation measures (i.e., equipment modifications/upgrades, structure relocations, elevation barriers around critical equipment, etc.) that can be included in the Town’s capital improvement program (CIP) to ensure future resiliency of the wastewater system.
The Town anticipates the tasks to be included as part of the study in general conformance with the dates shown as part of the MEMA quarterly reporting form.
