The Naval Air Systems Command awarded Contract N00019-23-C-0013 with General Electric (GE) Aviation Lynn, MA, for 65 Full Rate Production (FRP) lot 8 (54 for the U.S. Navy and 11 for the Government of Israel); 51 FRP lot 7 (39 for the U.S. Navy and 12 for the Government of Israel); and 53 Low Rate Initial Production (LRIP) lot 6 (36 for the U.S. Navy and 17 for the Government of Israel) T408-GE-400 (T408) engines in support of CH-53K® production helicopter and spare engine inventory. Additionally, this contract provides associated engine, programmatic, and logistics support, as well as cost reduction initiatives. This procurement was procured in accordance with the statutory authority permitting other than full and open competition under 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1), as implemented by the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1(a)(2), in that GE is the only known source possessing the requisite knowledge, technical expertise, special skills, technical data, facilities, and experience to develop and produce the unique components required to integrate the engine on the CH-53K.
